I am happily married to Joann, with whom I've been since I was 19 years old. I work at Microsoft Research, where I do research in machine learning and e-commerce. I have a home page at work that has more information about what I do there. I like classic hard-rock music. I row competitively, both in large boats and in a single. I play ultimate frisbee throughout the year. I occasionally run in races, but I haven't trained seriously since graduate school. In the last few years, I have done a lot of reading about American History. I like playing bridge, but Joann and I haven't been with a regular group in quite a while. I have been a vegetarian since 1991.
